“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress.
Working together is success.” Henry Ford
Here at Mac House we take an active approach to bonding, by doing in-house activities but through field trips. We’re forgoing the water cooler talk and replacing it with aquarium talk instead. Even better, heading to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for an end of the year treat for our team this past December.
What we learned over the past several years, is that team building doesn’t happen within the office. It happens out in the world. Team building can beneficial to your business, your team, your workplace environment. On adventures where employees can interact with one another on a more personal level.
Mac House Team Builder: Monterey Bay Aquarium
We invite you to document your team adventures. Take photos or shoot videos, and share them with the world in a photo gallery or edited visual. The final result will be a memoir of that day that everyone can look back on. It’ll also give future employees an idea of the culture your company offers.
So What Does Team Building Do?
Promotes Better Communication
Regardless of the type of industry your business is in, communication is valuable. Involve your employees in activities that require different forms of communication. This leads to better correspondence skills.
Stimulates Creativity
The confines of an office often leave little for inspiration. For the creative mind, inspiration is everywhere. Stepping outside will invite it to tap into parts of their brain that don’t get used on a daily basis.
Advances Problem Solving
Introduce your team to situations where they must think of out of the box solutions. This will inspire them to look at business problems from a different perspective.
Develops Relationships
Team building promotes unification amongst the workers. It results in breaking the barrier between boss and employee. Involve the whole company on an even playing field. This promotes an outlook of equality furthering trust with one another.
Creates A Culture
Every single person on a team has a culture to contribute. Appreciate and invite the team to take part in cultural activities outside of the office. This will translate to adopting practices into the company making for a much nicer place to work at.
Take Aways
What we hope for you to pull from these points is an understanding of how team building can unify your workplace. How it can create a much more pleasant environment to work in. There are hundreds of activities that you can treat your employees to:
- Head to the local arcade where everyone can bring their childhood gamer out
- Visit a local museum like the Exploratorium where everyone can be hands-on with exhibits
- Travel out to the campground to spend a weekend in the solidarity of the forest
